At the moment we can’t think of a better time to strengthen our immunity! After the gloomy and cold winter days, it is always good to give our body an extra boost. How to do this naturally? Check it out below.

immune system - spirulina

1. SUPERFOOD

Spirulina has been used for therapeutic purposes for thousands of years. This blue-green algae is rich in protein and amino acids, and is ideal for restoring strength and energy to the body. It is one of the oldest inhabitants of Earth – 3.6 billion years old! In addition to nourishing the body with essential nutrients and increasing energy levels, spirulina suppresses allergies, lowers cancer risk, lowers high blood pressure, helps with memory, lowers cholesterol and improves vision.

This algae contains 100x more vitamin A than carrots, 6x more protein than eggs and 50x more iron than spinach. If you suffer from anemia, this is an ideal way to naturally improve your blood count.

2. EXERCISING

Just like a healthy diet, exercising regularly can contribute to the health of your immune system. Make sure you exercise for at least 30 minutes a day.

3. PROBIOTICS

When it comes to immunity, we must not forget our digestive system (70-80% of the immune system is in our intestines) because if the balance of the intestinal flora is impaired, there is a decrease in immunity. Probiotics help to restore balance in our gut, which can sometimes become disrupted due to illness, taking antibiotics, unhealthy foods and even stress. And they set it up by probiotic bacteria attacking the weak bacteria and preventing them from spreading. Some of the beneficial effects of probiotics are lowering cholesterol, lowering blood pressure, reducing inflammation and improving immune function.

4. HYGIENE

One of the most effective ways to fight bacteria and viruses. Maintain hygiene and wash your hands regularly.

5. ENOUGH SLEEP

Although we are sometimes not aware of it, stress has a great impact on our body and is one of the main culprits for disturbing the balance of the body. Reduce stress to a minimum and provide your body with enough sleep so that it can function normally. And thus be happier and more satisfied.

RECIPE FOR SPIRULINE AND BEE POLLEN SMOOTHIE

We decided to share with you a recipe for a super delicious and nutritious smoothie. In addition to spirulina, we also added pollen, which is a real immune bomb. Pollen has 22 types of amino acids and has a beneficial effect on the digestive system. It contains vitamins A, group B, C, D, E and a significant amount of minerals.

For this smoothie you will need:

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 teaspoon of spirulina
  • 350 ml of oat milk
  • 2 dates
  • 2 teaspoons of pollen

Preparation

Cut bananas in rings and put them in a freezer for an hour or two. You can also leave them overnight  if you have time. If not, an hour in the freezer will be enough. I’ve chosen oat milk because of the taste, smoothie is much richer and also more nutritious. In a blender, whizz  the oat milk with 1 teaspoon of spirulina, frozen bananas , 2 teaspoons of pollen and 2 dates. The dates are also there for taste, but you can replace them with a teaspoon of honey. Mix all ingredients in a blender until you have a creamy texture. If you prefer a thinner smoothie, add more water or milk.

You candecorate the Smoothie with blueberries and flax seeds. And that’s it!

Spirulina itself has a slightly unpleasant taste, but when mixed with other ingredients that taste disappears. You can find this superfood in powder and pill form. It is important to check its origin just before buying it, as this algae is grown in waters around the world and some of them are polluted.

Have youever encountered spirulina before?

* It is recommended for women who are pregnant and/or breastfeed to consult their doctors before taking spirulina.
