There has been a lot talk about omega 3 acids in the las few years, and with full right. Omega 3 are fatty acids that are very important to maintaining a healthy organism, and fats that you shouldn’t be afraid of.
Namely, they reduce the risk of heart diseases, lower cholesterol and blood pressure and are beneficial to brain functions.
People with omega 3 deficiency can experience dry skin and shineless hair. Hair can crack and even fall off. If your nails are prone to crack, the reason can be omega 3 deficiency.
It’s important to state that our body can’t produce theseacids on it’s own, so we have to bring them in through food and suplements. Ifyou love fish, perfect. Many types of fish like salmon, sardine, white fish, anchovies are filled with omega acids.
But, if you’re not a fan of fish, you can get omega indifferent ways. You maybe didn’t know, but we can find omega acids in algae, plankton and crabs. Animals themselves also can’t produce omega 3 on their own, they receive it from algae. Studies show that composition of omega 3 in algaeis very similar to one in fish. A big plus for algae is the fact that they area much cleaner source, while fish can contain metals and even microplastic. Also, fish farming has a negative impact on environment.
It’s important to know the origins and quality of suplements if you’re using them. Microalgae are the oldest living organisms on Earth. They are also dubbed superfood because of their high levels of aminoacids, iron, magnesium, vitamins and beta carotene. Being rich in chlorophyll, a very potent natural detoxifier, they are also great for body detox. Did you know that spirulina contains more protein than meat? When taking omega 3 pills, I always choose ones that are completely natural and vegan. Like the ones from Malinica. They don’t even cause heartburn, which is an added plus, right?

Another great way of bringing omega 3 acids into your bodyis omega 3 oil. If you love salads like I do, Omega 3-6-9 oil from Nutrigold isperfect! It has a subtle nutty flavor, which can be unusual at first, but trustme, you get used to it quickly. It contains sunflower oil, vitamin E, linseedoil, rapeseed oil and evening primrose oil. You don’t have to put a lot of itin salads, i usually put a teaspoon.
Along with salads, I also love smoothie bowls. They are simple yet so delicious. It’s definitely my favorite breakfast, and very oftenly a desert. You can put any fruits that you like, even vegetables, add nuts, granola. There are 1000 ways to do it. My favorite is a combination with bananas and berries.
RECIPE
- 2 frozen bananas
- one handful of berries
- Half teaspoon of spirulina
- Very little water or oat milk
Mix the ingredients in blender and put them in a bowl. You can put various condiments on top. I usually put coconut, fruit, homemade granola, chia seeds or honey.
