Simple And Healthy Granola Bars Recipe

by

Tasty, healthy, easy and quick to make, perfect for fans of sweets that would like to avoid chocolate or biscuits at least ’till Easter. If you found yourself in the previous description, then this is the perfect recipe for you. At our house, a day can go by without having something sweet, whether it’s cake, cookies, biscuits…But for the last two months we’re really trying to eat more healthier and avoiding so much sweets. We’re lying! We’re not avoiding, but we simply found ways to have that sweet goodness without breaking the “don’t eat unhealthy things” rule.

First we tried making healthy cookies from bananas and oats. And to be honest, it was the worst thing we’ve ever tasted. Although we almost gave up, we decided to give it another go and make something similar to energy bars. As it turned out, we really liked them and they’ve disappeared in two days, so we would like to share the recipe with you. We don’t really use precise measurements with this one, but we will try to do them as precisely as possible for you.

First of, we’ll start with making granola. Oats are go to ingredient for this; They are very healthy, they contain beta glucan, a lot of vitamins and minerals, and they also lower cholesterol, benefit the digestion system… Put 300g of oats in a bowl, a pinch of sea salt, chop a handful of nuts (of course, if you’re allergic, don’t use them), add a handful of sunflower seeds, flax, sesame and chia seeds. Add a teaspoon of cinnamon. Add two spoons of coconut oil in the bowl and mix it all up.

Take the baking tray, put baking paper on it, and spread the mixture all over it. Bake on 180°C for about 15 minutes, until the mixture has a nice golden color to it. Take the tray out and let it cool down. Now, you can either eat it with yogurt or milk, or you can make energy bars a.k.a Healthy dessert. For the former, you only need to add dates. Our tip is to put dates in boiled water, to soften up. A few minutes will be enough. Put around 6 or 7 softened dates in the granola bowl, and get those fingers busy with mixing! The mixture should be sticky, if it’s not, add more dates.

So when the mixture is sticky enough, press it in a deeper tray, or a cake mold. Use baking paper, of course. After that, put it in the freezer over night, and on the next day, slice them in squares or any shape you want, wrap them in baking paper, and put them in the fridge. If you don’t eat them at immediately
