We have to admit that dinner is our favorite meal of the day. Breakfast is always about some fruit or chia pudding, but we love dinner time because then we just go full out. Pancakes, pasta, mom’s croissants…During the day, we don’t have such a strong desire to cook, but when it’s dinner time, then we get loads of inspiration. One night, while we were making a strudel out of local eco pears, we decided to make jam as well. Our mom usually makes all the jams, marmelades and the other winter store foods, so we don’t have that much experience in that, but it’s always worth trying new things and learning something new, right? And we must say, it wasn’t that hard at all.
We pealed the pears, cut them into cubes, and added cinnamon and vanilla sugar. Pears are cooked until they start to get really soft and fall apart. With a stick blender we broke pears into tiny bits, until we got the texture we wanted. We don’t know about you, but we like when jam has a little rougher texture, so we didn’t used the blender much. Then we added gelatine and sugar and cooked it for a little while. It’s important to pour hot jam in jars, close it and then turn the jars upside down for 10 minutes. Why? We don’t know, it’s our mom’s advice. And that’s it! Over in an hour! The taste is so good that this jam substituted Nuttela, and that coming from two certified Nuttela-holics speak a lot. We love it.
You will need:
- 1kg of pears
- 30dag of sugar
- 1bag of gelatin
- 1 small spoon of cinnamon
- 1 bag vanilla sugar
