Uhhh scrunchies! I have went back on scrunchie train two years ago when I saw them in a totally different look. And since then, it has been my go to anywhere anything hair accessory. I know that there has been a real debate about this accessory. But as with everything – you either love it or you don’t!
I believe you noticed this too – for the last few months , scrunchies have become a MUST HAVE hair accessory on Instagram. I see them on almost every picture on my feed, I don’t know if it’s due to quarantine or not… hahah, but they’re definitely a hit!
You can find scrunchies in every high street store, and the price goes from $2 to $220. They come in many different styles and patterns – such as silk, leopard print, velvet. But why spending money if you can make them yourself. Best of all, I am sure you have all the things you need for making them in your home.

Here is a quick step by step tutorial for making this amazing hair accessory.
All you need is:
- Fabric
- Scissor
- Needle
- Thread
- Safetypin
- Elastic
Step 1
Pick thefabric! I love reusing old fabric, like old t-shirt or dresses. I also lovesatin, It is so easy to work with it, and the final result is amazing!
Cut fabric into 8.5 cm by 53cm strip.

Step 2
Fold the fabric length wise, right side inside and wrong side outside. Stitch along the edge. This process is easier and quicker if you have a sewing machine, but you can also hand stitch it.

Step 3
Turn right side out.

Step 4
Cut the elastic 25 cm, attach the safety pin and thread it through the tube.

Step 5.
Tie the ends of the elastic in a knot – pull it tight.

Step 6.
Sew all the way around the fabric to join the two sides.
