I know that there has been a real debate about this accessory. But as with everything – you either love it or you don’t!
I believe you noticed this too – for the last few months , scrunchies have become a MUST HAVE hair accessory on Instagram. I see them on almost every picture on my feed, I don’t know if it’s due to quarantine or not… hahah, but they’re definitely a hit!
You can find scrunchies in every high street store, and the price goes from $2 to $220. They come in many different styles and patterns – such as silk, leopard print, velvet. But why spending money if you can make them yourself. Best of all, I am sure you have all the things you need for making them in your home.
Here is a quick step by step tutorial for making this amazing hair accessory.
All you need is:
- Safety pin
Pick the fabric! I love reusing old fabric, like old t-shirt or dresses. I also love satin, It is so easy to work with it, and the final result is amazing!
Cut fabric into 8.5 cm by 53cm strip.
Fold the fabric length wise, right side inside and wrong side outside. Stitch along the edge. This process is easier and quicker if you have a sewing machine, but you can also hand stitch it.
Turn right side out.
Cut the elastic 25 cm, attach the safety pin and thread it through the tube.
Tie the ends of the elastic in a knot – pull it tight.
Sew all the way around the fabric to join the two sides.
